Monica Adjeleian - A.R.A.D. Honours I.S.T.D. - Monica has been teaching in the Ottawa area for 27 years. Before opening the Canadian School of Dance in 1986, Monica performed with the Ottawa Dance Theatre, Ontario Ballet Theatre and in the Canadian Opera Company's production of 'The Merry Widow" and "Rinaldo" with Marilyn Horne. Her training was with the National Ballet School, The Canadian School of Ballet and the Canadian College of Dance at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. Monica attended summer schools at Les Grands Ballet Canadien and the Banff School of Fine Arts. She was instrumental in the Canadian School of Dance receiving the Youth Achievement Award in 1988.
Fran Coyle - A.R.A.D., T.D., A.I.S.T.D. – Modern, national, Fran has had extensive training with Gwyneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally (founder and Principal Dancer of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet). Having graduated from the Canadian College of Dance at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, she danced professionally for several years as well as teaching at various schools for a number of years. Fran attended renowned summer schools at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and The Banff School of Fine Arts. She has been teaching in the Ottawa region for 24 years and in 1986, opened the Canadian School of Dance with her sister, Monica Adjeleian. Fran and her students have shared great success at many dance competitions. Her choreography has won numerous awards, most recently overall high score three consecutive years at Footloose Dance Championships. Her choreography won first in the Diamond Dance-Off at CanDance and highest adjudication at the American Dance Awards. She was named choreographer of the year in Las Vegas.
Dana Hanes (Director of Tap & Jazz) - As a certified ADAPT Jazz and Tap instructor Dana holds the position of Director of the jazz/tap departments here at the Canadian School of Dance. As both an instuctor and a choreographer, her successes over the past 15 years here at CSD are reflective of her passion for dance and the relationships she builds with her students. Her enthusiasticc yet technical teaching style have enabled and motivated students to achieve outstanding examination results. As a result of our exceptionally high average marks, we are viewed nationally as an "Elite" school on the jazz/tap training front. Dana's love for Dance is projected through her award winning choreography. She has taken top honours many times over at both the Regional and National/International levels. Her most recent accomplishments include; Overall High Score Adjudication ADA Toronto, High Score-Diamond Choreography ADA -Toronto as well as in Ottawa , 2nd place overall Diamond dance Off CanDance - Ottawa, High Score Solo Chorography Award - ADA -New York City, as well as many solo titlists both Regionally and on the International stage. As her choreographer, Dana was instrumental in the current "Miss Teen Canada" winning her title. Her energy and passion for dance is second to none and translates directly to her students and sets the stage for international competitive accolades. We are as pleased to have her as she is to be here.
